I’d Rather Be A Renter At The Moment
October 5, 2009 – 5:35 amLet’s face it. Guys can pretty much live anywhere. I could live in a van down by the river and be content. My wife, on the other hand…not so much. She is a wonderful woman and we love our home at present. It’s probably the one area in our lives where we live at our means compared with most others. And perhaps food as well.
I would rather be a renter in this economy at the moment though. As hopeful as some are that things are about to turn around, I’m not convince that the housing or overall economic situation is going to improve greatly in the next couple of year. If we had waited a few years to purchase our home we would be in a more stable financial position, but our quality of life would have been lower.
I am grateful to God for our home, and when we purchased we were (apparently) wise enough to get a home we could grow into but not so large that we were foolishing heating and cooling a square mile of unused space. All in all it was a good purchase, and with kids on the way and my wife staying home with them I’m glad they have a place of their (our) own.
Personally speaking though I’d rather be a renter at the moment.
