Save Money On Books With Book Burro

I’ve been using a great Firefox plug-in for a while to comparison shop for books, and I’d like to share it with the rest of you. It’s called “Book Burro“, and it creates a small icon (like a collapsed window) on web pages that are about books. My guess is it actually scans the web pages for an ISBN (the equivalent of a book identifier), and only shows the window if you’re on a page about books.
The window is shown collapsed initially, so it doesn’t get in your way when browsing for books. It is also semi-transparent, and can been closed or opened by double clicking.

The plug-in comes with options for various bookstores, which allows you to only show stores you typically buy from.
The other really cool feature is that the plug-in is tied in to the WorldCat database, a database of libraries. You can enter your zip code, and it will actually search your local libraries and give you a list of libraries in your area that carry the book. Although not all libraries are tied into the WorldCat database, most larger libraries are. I live in Texas and frequently see listing for local libraries as well as some that are a couple hundred miles away (if there are no local options available).

This functionality makes Book Burro easy to use and unobtrusive. It only shows up (for me) when I’m browsing books at Amazon.com, and it shows prices points at various other stores as well as some discount and used book sellers.
