There’s a fine line between saving for the future and hoarding to insulate yourself from disasters (and from God). Much of the difference lies in attitude, and I struggle quite a bit in this area. During the Exodus God provided manna from heaven each day and instructed the Israelites to eat only what they needed that day. There were, of course, some hoarders in the group though and the manna became filled with worms. Their “savings” may have seemed prudent at the time, but God would not bless their actions because they were putting their security and faith in themselves and their savings.
God wants to bless us, and He gives us instructions on how to live the best life possible. He’s preparing us for eternity, and although we may not understand all of His reasons we must trust in Him and abide by his guidelines for our lives.
