Save 20% On Restaurant Meals

August 15, 2008 – 6:05 am

There are some obvious ways to save money that only appear obvious once you hear about them. I hope this rings true for you. How do you save 20% on restaurant meals: get your meals to go! You’ll save the 15% tip for sure, and the cost of drinks as well. This can easily add to to 20% of your bill, and yet you still get the other benefits of eating out.

I’ve been trying to eat in a healthy way for a while now, and I’ve noticed that my wife just likes the taste of restaurant food (fast food actually) once a week. But she don’t need the entertainment, time savings, cleanup savings, or anything else. So what do we do? She picks up her favorite food once a week and then brings it home. It sometimes drives me nuts when I want to actually eat out in a restaurant and she’d rather eat restaurant food at home, but we manage. :-)

  4. Since we have two small children, if we do eat out, we typically get the food to go. We save money on the tip, plus we can actually enjoy our meal. If you typically tip 15-20%, I guess that can add up fast. Also, our family loves pizza. We buy everything at the store and make one at home for a few dollars. Saves us money on eating out or the delivery charge.
